If I have a suspect drive or drives in a mirrored OS set, and I don't know which is causing grief but I'm getting lagging writes, I make a best guess on SMART data, yank that out of the array, secure erase, and then erase with DD. It should be doing the full 400-500 meg/sec. If you suspect the drive might be having write issues, I also hit it with the erase with DD erase for a minute or so, and watch the write speed. It will reset every bit on the flash to zeros. Just got the email a few days ago on a new release too.Īs for wiping the SSD, use the secure erase.
